The Political Great Whine watched the debate last night and will keep our opinions short and sweet!
Who Won? Neither the President nor the former President won the debate last night. President Biden responded to the questions appropriately but his voice was raspy and he seemed to lose his train of thought a few times. Former President Trump sounded more clear and showed more coherence in his responses, but he repeatedly lied and began his response to almost every question by just saying how bad Biden is and all the good things he (Trump) did while he was president. However, he spoke very little about what he WOULD do if elected again.
Overall Take: After the debate, political analysts criticized President Biden’s performance as lackluster, citing insufficient energy. The PGW is uncertain about the expectations placed on an 81-year-old, considering former President Trump, at 78, falls within the same age range. The vice presidents of both men are the ones Americans should focus on, as they may very well assume leadership of the country.
Something to think about: Both Biden and Trump are elderly. As Americans, we must reflect on the key qualities we value in a president. Do we prefer a president who appears younger, frequently lies, has been convicted of a felony by a jury of their peers, and criticizes the nation they aim to lead? Or do we prefer a president who is visibly older, has demonstrated their patriotism through military service, Congressional tenure, and current Presidency?
