Well, Hello There!
Yes, it’s been a while. Quite a while, actually. Long enough for the political landscape to change, change again, and then somehow manage to become even more interesting—and not necessarily in a good way!
I’m BAaaack!
For those of you who remember Political Great Whine, welcome back! And for those of you who are just discovering this little corner of the internet, welcome! Pull up a chair, grab your favorite beverage, and prepare to exercise that wonderful organ between your ears. You are going to need it!
So, why am I back?
Because I still have questions. Lots of them.
Because there’s a difference between having an opinion and having an informed opinion. And because somewhere between the headlines, the sound bites, the political theater, and the endless social media arguments, I think we’ve lost something important: the willingness to stop, examine the facts, and actually THINK.
Now, don’t misunderstand me. I have opinions. Strong ones, in fact. And I’m not the least bit shy about expressing them. After all, this is called Political Great Whine, not Political Great Silence.
But here’s the thing: I believe a good opinion should be able to withstand a few good questions. Including my own.
This time around, I’m bringing more than commentary to the table. I’m bringing my love of research, data, history, and the sometimes inconvenient facts that make us reconsider what we thought we knew.
We’ll explore politics, public policy, social issues, and the decisions that shape our everyday lives. Sometimes I’ll make you laugh. Sometimes I might make you uncomfortable. And sometimes you may find yourself saying, “Now, wait just a minute!”
Good. That’s exactly the point. I’m not here to tell you what to think. I’m here to share what I think, explain why I think it, and invite you to do the same. And that brings me to the four little words that will guide this next chapter:
Read. Think. Question. Engage.
Read beyond the headline. Think beyond the talking points. Question what you’re told—including what you read right here. And engage, because a conversation is much more interesting when more than one person is doing the talking.
So, welcome back to Political Great Whine. I’ve got a few things on my mind. And something tells me you do, too.
